Crack forming top edge of 1 year old Blue Hawaiian pool

Just looking for tips about handling this as I don't entirely trust the pool company who installed this pool last year.

Picture attached of a small (2-inch) crack near the top of our 1-year-old Blue Hawaiian fiberglass pool. The installer sent someone who spoke of it being probably just a "gel layer crack". He acted like we should just ignore it or put tile over it but that's not their final word at this point.

Granted it doesn't seem deep or all the way through but you can slide a fingernail over it and it feels like a crack.

We are new to pools but ignoring or covering a small crack doesn't sound smart to me. Also, isn't it a bit early to see a crack forming at top? Should I question if the install was correct or if there might be an uneven stress here?

Looking for tips, advice, education about fiberglass pool cracks.

Thanks!

Spider cracks are common in fiberglass pools. Ours has several spots. They are just in the gel coat.

My mistake was having couple of them 'repaired' when the pool was relatively new. The gel coat color does not match in those areas. Better to leave the cracks.

The crack in the picture is a single one? That is odd, all of mine were several cracks emanating from one spot.

Has it grown?

The disoloration makes me think its more than just a spider/surface crack in the gelcoat. It will likely cause a deepening "osmosis" crack with time. Tough call but, notwithstanding a potential color mismatch, I would get it fixed.

It's just the one and we are monitoring it for growth. Time will tell.

I don't mind a bit of discoloration if it will help prevent spread or deepening of the problem.

Thanks for the input.

Good point about the discoloration. My concern is deepening as well.

I should call Blue Hawaiian directly to speak with them and ask for a review.
