* Saw DE in vacuum basket. I've been suspect some leakage in MPV for a while due to gurgling sounds in it and the handle was not sitting all the way down although its function seemed to be ok. * Opened up MPV: spider gasket needs replacement. * Ordered replacement * Buttoned up MPV in "FILTER" position, hoping to create decent temporary seal. * Will run pump during my presence so I can relieve air buildup in the filter.
* switched to new bottle of R-007. That might explain why I got higher reading of TA, after adding MA (Muriatic Acid), which should have reduced TA value.

Hung frog pads on fence. Dealing with major wasp issue. There were a dozen wasps gathered on the frog pad at the NW corner of pool. They’ve dispersed but still hanging around. Hopefully they will be gone by Thursday.

Pool status report: 1. The pump and filter are back online after filter cleaning. I wanted to wash the filter before we let the water level drop for tile grout repair. However, we cannot do that at the moment because there's a problem with main drain. I theorize it is a line blockage, but it might also be a leak in the line (I'll supply symptoms at the end of this text). In any case, troubleshooting it would require a lot of activity, and I cannot promise i can do that much in this heat. So I filled the pool, and set things up as usual. 2. I have not brushed the pool, and I didn't do any chemistry checks, except for pH adjustment. Tap water has very high pH, and letting the pool sit for too long with high pH will drive calcium stain precipitation onto the walls again. 3. I have ordered autofill valve, so the pool can be refilled automatically as needed. I will need Mike's help with installation because we will need to find and turn on the water supply line for it. I'll request am appointment when the valve arrives. ======== Main Drain problem symptoms: if I turn off water intake from the skimmers, there's a lot of air on the suction side, vacuum gauge reads 15 psi instead of usual 5, and filter doesn't register any pressure. There's some flow, though.

water level was too low to add DE properly. Running pump with main drain produced insufficient flow. I took off the pump timers and will return tomorrow to troubleshoot the issue. GR
