    Curious pH test question (Science?)

I'll do some experimentation right now! So FC is 6 and CC is 0. I haven't put any chemicals in the pool since last night and it's noon now. First pic shows water at the 44ml mark, then second pic I added 5 drops. It looks a little different in the pic but in person it's clearly a 7.4 Third pic...

    Curious pH test question (Science?)

Thanks! Yeah I just didn't want to deal with grabbing more if I'm testing so often! I'll keep doing it at this rate for a few more days while I'm seeing the progress just as an experiment but I'll take your advice and do that other method! And as for the hue thing, that makes sense!!

    Stumped!

Probably useless but there's some multipacks of shock powder, one is the chlorine and another looks almost identical and is flocculant. It stumped me why my water was cloudy for a few days til I realized that. Turned the pump off and 12 hours later I had a nice layer too vacuum out to waste...

    Curious pH test question (Science?)

Hey guys, I've been correcting my TA since my water here is around 220ppm, so I've been keeping my pH at 7 and checking 3 or 4 times a day and just adding a bit of muriatic acid to correct it down to 7-7.1 and aerating nonstop. My TA has slowly been drifting down and is at 140 now. I'm hoping...

Lowering Alkalinity Process - White debris at the bottom?

It could be, the pools under a tree as well so it could be anything from that. I haven't done an overnight test technically but I've been trying to gauge my daily chlorine needs so I essentially test it before bed and sometimes early morning and there's been many times where the FC is 6ish and...

Lowering Alkalinity Process - White debris at the bottom?

Thanks! It's a new pool and the water was clear for the first week since it was fresh, it took about that week to get the k-2006 test kit, and the cloudiness started just a day before I started lowering the ph in bursts to try and get the TA to drop. I did drop it from 220 to 150 surprisingly so...

Lowering Alkalinity Process - White debris at the bottom?

FC 4 Cc 0 PH 7 (keeps drifting up but currently slowly correcting TA) TA: 150 CH: 220 CYA: 35 No salt, vinyl 7500 gallon above ground sand filter pool. Pic shows how clear it is, very happy, but the chalky debris at the bottom isn't visible. I also vacuumed a lot of it to waste but it'll take a...

Lowering Alkalinity Process - White debris at the bottom?

Hey guys, I got my K-2006 a week or 2 back and have been learning a ton, my water has no CC and a bit of FC, looks very clear, all the numbers are in a good spot except our water is a bit high in alkalinity. I've been keeping the PH at 7-7.2 and aerating 24/7 which involves pouring about 2 cups...

    Question about adjusting TA

Okay! So just keep my pH at 7-7.2 and keep my filter pumping and play in the pool a ton and splash around and the TA should lower over time? And are there any major issues with higher TA in the meantime? It's just a little 18'x18' 7500 gallon intex pinyl pool (I'll be reading the Further reading...

    Question about adjusting TA

Hey guys, I'm balancing my pool and my numbers are all in good ranges except Total alkalinity which is 230. The water here is known to be alkaline so this was expected, but this seems super high. My pool is 7500 gallons. My Taylor book says to dump 2.25 gallons of 31.45% Muriatic acid in to...

Dealing with some possible very high CC levels! (New Pool)

Definitely didn't do anything like that! Will skim and wait! Thanks! I'll read through these each a couple dozen times!!

Dealing with some possible very high CC levels! (New Pool)

Hi! I got a good deal on a Taylor K-2006 kit but the delivery was a week and a half, so I grabbed a 150pk of test strips (I knowwww) just to get some ballpark numbers to see if there's any chemicals I need pre-emptively. I plan to balance this pool and learn as much as I can to keep it where it...

Water turned kinda brown when I added Shock!

Hey! I've never owned a pool before, so I'm new to this. I got an Intex 18x18 52" deep round pool, leveled the ground for days, and researched a ton and managed to put it up near perfectly level! I wanted to start with test strips but I've quickly found that their accuracy wasn't what they...
