    Information overload

This group is the best!! I too am a new pool owner, having acquired mine when we bought it house last Oct. I knew nothing about pool maintenance and like you, was overwhelmed with all the information. The previous owner left us with a plethora of pool additives and told me “get several buckets...

    Introducing myself :)

I’m new too. Just bought a house with a pool last Oct. Learned a lot here by reading and going through Pool School. Pool Math is very straight forward and easy to use. Between that and the test kit, it took me a couple times to get the hang of it, but now very easy.

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! *PICS THREAD*

Well, not quite ‘right after cover was removed’, but I didn’t do anything to my pool except test and started draining water due to too high CYA.

Help me! I'm trying but failing:)

Hey, I can add encouragement. I’m a brand new AGP owner with the house we bought last fall. Knew NOTHING about pool chemicals or maintenance. Did a bit of work over the winter here in the “Pool School” and learned a huge amount. I bought a TF Pro test kit and was overwhelmed at first with all...

It's spring - Let's go!! First test of the season/ownership

Yeah, the previous owner had some ‘neighbor relation’ issues and it appears that since any pool water discharge ran into the neighbors yard, I can understand. So, I purchased 160’ of lay flat hose for backwashing with Cam-locks on it.

It's spring - Let's go!! First test of the season/ownership

Good! I was a step ahead and started the drain/ refill yesterday. Bought an inexpensive sump pump and used my new 1 1/2” discharge hose to pump it to the street. Took it down to just below 2 foot. Filling now and anxiously waiting to run the pump for a couple hours and retest.

It's spring - Let's go!! First test of the season/ownership

Pool is not buried at all, all above ground. If I interpret your second sentence, you mean with a 52" pool water level is roughly 4 FEET, so a 50% drain should leave you 2 FEET? Yes, on muni water here.

It's spring - Let's go!! First test of the season/ownership

No, we bought the house (and its AGP) Oct. 2023. The pump/filter were already removed for the winter. All I did was to put a winter cover on and add one of those winter floaty ball that had chemicals in it to last the winter.

It's spring - Let's go!! First test of the season/ownership

Hi all, Been following along here and attending Pool School over the winter to get up to speed on my (new to me) AGP. I moved the pump/filter away from the edge of the pool (30ft.) and just filled up past the return and skimmer today. Ran the pump for ~2 hours to mix thoroughly. Here are my...

New guy here, glad it’s winter….

Hi all, New house, new pool owner since late October. You would think I would want it be pool weather, but alas, I had a LOT to learn. Previous owner had already disconnected hoses for filter and pump, so I just drained water (from both) and put new pool cover on. Knew nothing then, so bought...
