    Robot longevity vs Polaris 280

I know everyone here loves their robot but I am curious as to the longevity and overall cost of ownership of a robot cleaner. My Polaris 280 has served me faithfully for 9 years. It stays in the pool 24x7x365. It is only removed to swim. Given that, it is giving me issues. at the very least it...

Why does pool school recommend higher CH for Salt water pools?

I have been keeping my CH around 250. I just looked through pool school again as it has been a while and saw that for salt water pools the recommended range is 350 - 450? What is the reasoning behind the higher CH level for SWG pools vs non salt water pools?

Calling all Jandy Pros - Help needed

My Jandy 1400 started throwing a 170 error code a couple of weeks ago. I found a Jandy troubleshooting flowchart that determined the flow sensor was bad. None of my pump or cleaner programs would run with the sensor board plugged in so I left it unplugged and set salt production to 0. And...

New sanitizer eliminates the need for chlorine FINALLY!

I just read a press release for a new Mircowave sanitizer for pools that guarantees to sanitize your water and kill all pathogens with 3 milliseconds. Is your pool equipment covered?

I had to read my owners manual due to a "no flow" error on my Jandy Aquapure when I noticed it stated that the equipment had to be covered (sheltered) or it would void the warranty. My builder put the pad on the side of the house but never mentioned this. I was curious as to how many people have...

Recommended CL level for removing organic stains

I had some tree work done today. One of the trees they cut was a diseased Bradford Pear and the top landed on the corner of the pool dropping what looks like seed pods and leaves in the water. They failed to tell me when it happened. About three hours later I scooped it out but it left a lot of...

    Sundance spa PCB board question

I have a good friend with a 2000 Sundance Marin 850 spa. A spa company replaced the PCB board and failed to set the jumpers to the same as the old board. The schematic in the owners manual does not show how to set the jumpers depending on what options are installed in the spa. A call to Sundance...

2 years since filter cleaning and SWCG inspection. How does it look?

It has been two years since I cleaned my filter cartridges and SWCG. My pressure just hit the 25% mark. My SWCG has been producing chlorine with no problem. I keep my water balanced year round and never close the pool. I figure since I was so AR about keeping the water balanced using your...

Unusual Star Trek Stains on plaster

I started getting some stains on my plaster late last year. The stains started with one then others started popping up and now I have around ten of them. Each is shaped just like the Star Trek logo that was used on their shirts in the TV show. They do not respond to Vitamin C or a chlorine tab...

    Government level water testing.

Isn't there a government agency that can perform a highly accurate water test? I don't know if it costs anything but I read about it a while back. I think it has something to do with farmers testing water. It might be some state or county service. I don't know how accurate it is but if it is...
