Bro look at that return and suction layout. How could that possibly flow?

Heating 5000 gallon above ground pool for an outdoor event

Build a campfire and use a copper loop over the fire as a heat exchanger. They make them for DIY hot tubs (expensive) or you can do your own by filling it with sand, crimping it, bending it. Will fit right in with your fantasy vibe.

Best way 18’ above ground pool T Post slipping out

Have one person find a way to bounce the rails in the correct direction in a rhythm. Then have the other person look and align the holes at the same time.

Leaving pool up for the winter

Very interested in this. I am leaning toward keeping my 16' intex xtr up this winter

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Quick protip before I forget. For water testing, get a squeezy bottle from the grocery store. They work really well for taking samples 1ft underwater and measuring out the right volume for tests!

    Jim's AGP Journey

Yeah it will do txt and email. At the start of the season I had it email me once the pool was warm enough to swim. Sadly I was out of town when that moment was reached :\ I am an _extremely_ satisfied customer of the Ambient weather hardware. Had the weather station for maybe two years now and...

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Would there be any benefit at all to upping ALK? Or are my params spot on? You are very correct about a TFP being kinda boring lol.

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Thanks. It's so dang rainy here I almost never add water. I actually find myself draining more often than not.

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

So I was tinkering with this calculator and it says my LSI is bad with my current specs. Mostly it seems like I want to roughly double my ALK. But this flies in the face of the TFP recommendations. I know since this isn't a plaster pool LSI is less of an issue but apparently it can bleach the...

    Wireless thermometer

Yeah Ambient Weather makes a fantastic product. Been very happy with my weather station, and the ability to plug sensors in is a killer feature. I've got another sensor in my chest freezer. if it goes above 0F I get an email.

I have the ambient weather station (love it btw) and they sell a $30 submergeable sensor I would recommend over the floating one. It's cheaper and you can use pool patches to adhere it to the side wall of your pool so it stays out of the way. Only downside is the unit is not waterproof. I just...

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Loving the Betta. I've not used my skimmer net since May 8. Pool's looking great. Also currently experiencing some fortuitious settling that is actually happening in my favor and making the pool more level. I've gone from 2" variance to 1.5"

Okay I figured out the Betta situation. I was confused on their product line. It's actually kind of confusing, but it looks like the products are: betta (not sure this exists in the wild at all) betta 2 betta se betta se+ I have the SE. the SE+ appears to be the most recent model, the one with...

I like the Intex skimmer, however it's height adjustment is simply not compatible with my pool and I don't feel like hacking something together.

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Got my Betta in. Sadly they shipped me a original model not the SE that I ordered. I ordered it as "used" or whatever from the official seller for $265 and the SE is now $328. I'm hoping they swap them out, otherwise I have to decide if I want to bother keeping it, return it and get the SE, or...

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

One more question. I needed to use the sand from the original filter in the new one to have enough sand (50lbs total needed). Before I took down the original filter I ran a long backwash and rinse. When I opened up the filter I noticed a pretty significant layer of gunk caked at the top of...

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Got a new pump in to replace the leaking one. I upgraded from 1500 to 2100. Huge difference! Easily 2x the flow, the laterals inside the filter are a totally different design, double the sand, double the filter housing volume, etc etc. One question. I couldn't get all the air out and there's a...

Wedding Cake Steps Weight Attachment Method?

I'd look into chemical resistant zip ties. If you're using some off brand ones from amazon they're likely to be much less resilient.

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

I like having the table by the walkway because I can go out, set my stuff down and get in, and then everything is right there. My wife burns easy and would probably prefer an umbrella but I'm just out there rawdogging the sun the whole time.

Help me pick out a pool for this summer

Mods feel free to rename this thread to something indicating it's more of a build log. Today's project: a pool table: Let's all take a moment to laugh at my woodworking skills. I used my miter saw to sharpen the legs into spikes and hammered them into the soil with a hand sledge. Last year's...
