    Extended Leave

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately we don't have anyone to come around and look at the pool. Will we have water loss with the cover on (seems like should be a no)? I'm certainly no expert, but we were thinking we would leave the robot in to scrub any slime off the walls. If you think this...

    Extended Leave

Hi all, wondering about an extended leave of an open pool, mid season. We normally have pretty stable pH and a SWG. Was considering to leave the EVO robot in the pool, running once per week or so, autocover closed. Problem is that we don't have any metric for SWG run time on a pool not...

    Fast "drip" from Filter Valve

Yes, you can't see it, but it elbows over to the SWG.

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

I understand where you are coming from, I just think the risk isn't that high of a pool cover being stuck open during a power outage and then someone drowning in that pool. There are risks with fences too, gates can stop automatically shutting, they are seldom, if ever locked, people prop them...

    Fast "drip" from Filter Valve

Cycled the valve and we went from a drip to a full blown leak. I don't see anything cracked on the outside. Worth disassembling to inspect before ordering a new gasket?

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

Also, amazing they talk about revenue gain from additional building permits.... So I paid for a permit for a pool cover, which including removal of the (not currently compliant) fence, and now I will have to pay for a permit for a fence AND the fence itself!

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

You know, potential jail time... From the bill: The bill results in a potential revenue gain from fines as it requires these changes to be enforced similar to a building code violation, which is punishable by a fine of $200 to $1,000 or up to 6 months in prison or both.

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

They were not retroactive, they were adopted as part of the building code which is not retroactive.

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

Not necessarily. Some pools existed prior to the barrier requirements, and MANY surely existed prior to the CURRENT requirements. Imagine, two years from now they change the regulations again, and everyone has to reinstall another fence? This is a bad path to go down as far as precedence.

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

    (2) Any owner of an in-ground swimming pool that is not subject to the provisions of subsection (a) of this section and, as of July 1, 2024, is not surrounded by a barrier that complies with the requirements of the State Building Code revised to October 1, 2022, shall install a barrier that...

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

I believe it affects anyone who is non compliant with the current fence requirements if I am reading the bill correctly. For example, if your fence doesn't have an automatically closing/latching gate, or if your fence has larger openings than are currently allowed, etc, you will have to upgrade...

    CT Pool Fence Legislation RETROACTIVE

Hello everyone, I just wanted to bring to your attention the CT house has passed HB 5169 requiring ALL inground pools to have fences, this includes those that have autocovers AND existing pools. Meaning if you have a pool that was grandfathered in you will have to pay for a fence. Personally...

First Time Pool Opening - CT

So the CYA dissolved yesterday. We didn't have enough to get up to 'normal'. This morning we had the following: FC - 8 CC - 0 pH - 7.3ish (between 7.2 and 7.5) TA - 90 CYA - 50 Salt - did not recheck, won't mess with that until everything else is sorted. Our brand new EVO 614 has been doing...

Any ideas on the black sediment? Why wouldnt the filter take it out? Edit: just saw your post, will keep vacuuming and brushing and get the FC up a bit. Thanks!

First Time Pool Opening - CT

We have a single speed pump for now, I reused the pump and the sand filter when we renovated the pool. I will upgrade the pump when it wears out. We have a triangle head of some kind. How long do you think it will take for the CYA to dissolve through the socks? I have been squeezing them as...

About the vacuum, we have one skimmer. The vacuum hose has a plate like fitting that futs in there. I think my issues are more the vintage 1995 vacuum head that came with the house.

First Time Pool Opening - CT

Thank you for the reply! I added about 2lbs of granular CYA via the sock method this morning and enough chlorine to get me to 6ppm. Didnt have too much time before I had to leave for the office, will chek as soon as I get home.

First Time Pool Opening - CT

So TA is too high according to the pool math calculator. Do i need to aerate to raise pH, the lower TA? Then add more CYA (which will then raise TA??) 🤯

First Time Pool Opening - CT

Update with the first real test: FC - 4 CC - 0 pH - 7.2 TA - 100 CH - 125 CYA - 25 SALT - 1000 Temp - 54F Any thoughts on where to go from here? Pool is still pretty clear, still trying to get the sediment off the bottom, the vacuum that came with the house is a piece of junk...

First Time Pool Opening - CT

Hi everyone, as I said in the pool opening pics thread, we had more slack in the cover than we wanted over the winter because our pool patio was just wrapping up (diy) when we closed for the winter. So the winter cover pump, pumped out more water than we wanted and some leaves got in there...
