Mini Max Plus 400 Theristor Probe

OK, I ordered a brand new thermistor probe and installed it. I really thought this had to be the issue. Unfortunately, the heater is doing the same thing. It is only clicking on when I turn the knob pretty close to full heat. it seems like it’s not recognizing lower temperatures. Does anyone...

Mini Max Plus 400 Theristor Probe

Below is a picture of my unit. All of a sudden, the heater will not kick on unless the dial is turned all the way up to the last units.

Mini Max Plus 400 Theristor Probe

I typically try to keep my pool heated at around 85°. Today, I noticed that the pool was cooler as the heater was not maintaining the temperature. When I turned the dial up on the heater, it did turn on. It just seems that the temperature is not being read correctly. Usually, I turn the dial...

    Blower Stopped

I will try to reset the switch tomorrow. I did not notice that. If this is the case, is it possible that there is debris causing it to overheat? Is it possible to open up the blower to see what’s going on inside and if it needs to be cleaned?

    Blower Stopped

Tonight I was enjoying my hot tub and suddenly the blower stopped. It is old. When I came over to it, it was not making any noise and I flipped the switch back-and-forth. I am going to mess with it tomorrow and start by testing the electricity. I doubt this is the problem because it is on...

    Problem with heater

Thanks for everyone’s help. I had success today. I replaced the valve and now it works. The old valve did indeed have alot of debris in it looking through the outlet when I removed it. I’m sure that has built up over many, many years. Checked all my joints with soapy water to ensure...

    Problem with heater

OK. Just checking in with update. I got a hold of a manometer. I tested the inlet side and it read 8. I tested the outlet side with the heater turned on. Nothing but clicking, I can see piolet flame, and the outlet side is reading 0 on manometer. My deduction from this test is that the...

    Problem with heater

Good advice. I’ll pick up a manometer before I buy the valve. Do you know the ideal measurement? I think I see on the picture that it needs to be between three and five.

    Problem with heater

Thanks for this information. This is a likely culprit to why the valve would be stuck.

    Problem with heater

I was able to get a crossover sheet from Honeywell attached and I believe this references the correct universal part and a couple competitor parts that also crossover. I assume that I would be safe to replace it with the univerasal or competitor? Having my sediment trap in the wrong place...

    Problem with heater

One more question. I am considering replacing I just looked up vr8304k4814 to replace and they seem to have limited availability and skyrocket price for those that are out there. Does the VR Universal cross over to it?

    Problem with heater

I’m not sure what to look for with the sediment trap, but I’m guessing this drop-down pipe could be set to catch sediment. I also just tried cleaning all the electrical connections. It did not fix the problem.

    Problem with heater

Thanks for the advice and info. I do not own a manometer, but I am thinking it is probably the valve because it was running fine for about three hours and then just switched over to clicking with no gas. Seems like the gas pressure would not of changed sporadically (Just a theory). I...

    Problem with heater

I thought I would add this picture as well. I’m thinking that it is this area that is not opening the valve to allow gas to go through the main pipe once the pilot is activated.

    Problem with heater

I have a mini max plus 400 heater that has been around for about about 20 years. I was having problems with it and recently replaced the flame sensor/fire sparker mechanism, and it has been working great ever since until today. Today, I was heating the pool and it was heating fine until it...

    Leak in Plumbing

See pictures. I had success. One thing I learned, I hate digging holes. Especially when there are crêpe myrtle trees in your yard with roots. All the leaking flex pipes removed and new PVC in. The pool now holds prime much better and does not suck air in pump…. not to mention it now does...
