    Urgent Skimmer Mounting Question

In middle of DIY build and went to set the Skimmers today, and they are not punched to accept the 'mounting screws' within the flange of the Faceplate. The Pool Manufacturer punched the outside flange screws--which allowed me to mount the skimmer--BUT these will be 'outside' the Finish Flange...

    DIY 20' x 40' In-Ground Build - In Progress!

So tore the old pool out today and got rough grade. The old pool had a Stone Dust bottom which held up VERY well, and compacted very nicely. Really thinking about doing the same--since that be easier and quicker to grade. I can even mix in some Lime to give it a little stiffness. I'm just a...

    Stone Dust for Bottom?

Just demo'd my pool I'm replacing, and they used Stone Dust on the bottom--and it held up well for over 30-years. I had planned to do grout bottom on this new build--but the Stone Dust has me thinking. I know it be easy to install on the bottom of the pool, but my only concern is the slopes...

New Pool and New SWG--Need Some Guidance/Test Kit

    Pool Bottom Materials?

So I've been told I can use any of the following for my Pool Kit: Sand: No interest in that. Dry Mortar/Grout Mix: Not sure on this one? Stone Dust: This one interests me. Might be easier than hand-troweling all that base for a 20'x40' pool? Mortar/Sand Mix: This is what I had planned...

    DIY 20' x 40' In-Ground Build - In Progress!

Getting ready to start my own DIY build, and this thread is GREAT!!! A couple questions: *I have been told to just a Portland-Sand Mix on the Pool Floor at a 5:1 ratio. Anyone with experience on this? *I noticed you left the shallow end panels out for access (which is smart), but I don't...

    Pool New Build costs

I just went through pricing my similar situation (vinyl lined pool--deteriorated when we bought the house). Priced with (4) different contractors--and even got a Fiberglass number. Typical Wall/Liner Pools were upwards of $75k, and the Fiberglass was outrageous ($100k+). I'm going the route...

    Replacing Inground Pool--Wall Shelves

Here are my thoughts: If I have a Wall Shelf that is lower (because of erosion) than the 40" walls--I will dig the shelf to the elevation I can get--and make the 2' overdig at that same elevation. Then I will bring that Wall Shelf back 'up' with Crusher Run to the required elevation of 40"...

Start-Up for New Pool Install with SWG

Building my inground, and wondered do I 'shock' the water after refilling (to remove cloudiness) like I would a normal chlorine pool BEFORE I start the SWG system? Or does the SWG take care of any residual cloudiness? Never had one before, and the directions I was given aren't that great.

    Replacing Inground Pool--Wall Shelves

I'm replacing an existing 20'x40' inground pool that has slightly caved-in. The existing Shelves (dirt Shelves) look to be in decent condition/elevation for the new Pool Walls--but what if there are areas that have caved-in below the 40" wall shelf elevation? Do you build them back up with...
