    Equipment covers

I noticed the power pack for my SWG is starting to show signs of weather damage (condensation in the screen) after just 1 1/2 years in the Florida sun and rain. I did some internet searching and found pump and heater covers but nothing for the power pack. What does TFP think about covers for...

Thanks for the quick reply! I had a feeling it was probably the case that it was too good to be true.

    Natural pool enzyme for pollen

The pollen in my pool is crazy. I scoop it out weekly with my fine mesh net after brushing the tile line. But it never ends. I just got an email from Pinch a Penny advertising their Suncoast Natural Pool Enzyme to help get rid of it. Anyone have any experience with It...

Anyone use an Evo 604 fine filter?

The dial pointing to the filter type would make sense. Given that it’s pointing to a bunch of small boxes, indicating a tighter “weave”, it makes sense that would say it’s the fine filter.

Anyone use an Evo 604 fine filter?

The mesh on the filter is really fine. Like almost where you can’t see through it. The stuff it picked up was like wet moon dust. Pretty impressive. But no markings to speak of on mine either. Just some manufacturing codes I think. Here’s a picture.

Anyone use an Evo 604 fine filter?

Answered my own question. My Evo 604 arrived from Marina this week. They swapped it to the fine filter before shipping it (saving me like $70!). The robot picked up all kinds of sand and silt. Looks like it’s gonna do the trick!

Anyone use an Evo 604 fine filter?

I decided to get a pool robot and was looking at the Dolphins. I was focused on Dolphins because of the "ultra-fine" filter available. I was leaning toward a Triton PS or refurb Nautilus CC from Pool Partz. Based on lots of suggestions here to talk to Margaret at Marina, I went ahead and gave...

    Cheapest place for pool acid

I’m confused by this…as it is, water is already suctioned by my pool and returned to both the spa and pool, causing the spillover. With this mode, my spa water will only be cycled for 45 minutes a day. Is that enough?

    Cheapest place for pool acid

My pool rarely needs baking soda. The only time I added some is when we had a barrage of rain and water escaped via the overflow drain for several days in a row. I also had to add CYA at that same time too because of the water replacement from the heavy rains.

    Cheapest place for pool acid

I’m using 1/2 gal weekly, not 2 gal weekly. I put in 1/4 gal twice a week. Sorry for any confusion. As for the 8.5 measurement, it’s a best guess. Basically it’s a darker red than what’s on the comparator at 8.2, so that’s what I enter.

Not regularly. Only when TA gets low.

    Cheapest place for pool acid

Does this work? It’s from the pool math app and gathered using my TF PRO kit. Looks like my chlorine is high (it’s been cloudy this week so I just turned my SWG down). ------------------------------------------ Test Results 09-30-2023 @ 01:56 PM...

Spillover is constant and runs with the pool pump.

    Cheapest place for pool acid

Last I measured it, my TA was 90. It might be a little lower now as we’ve had some rain but I wouldn’t expect it to be down to 50. My usual routine is to test chlorine and ph on Sunday or Monday, where the ph is almost always 8.2 or so. I pour in about 1/4 gallon, which drops it to about 7.6...

    Cheapest place for pool acid

Unfortunately, that’s not available in my area. I only get the $20 for 2 gallons version which isn’t any cheaper.

    Cheapest place for pool acid

Gotcha…so I assume the stuff I’m getting is considered full strength then?
  19. E

    Cheapest place for pool acid

Sorry what do you mean by full strength? The stuff I get at Pinch A Penny is 31.45%. It’s about $10/gal too.

    Cheapest place for pool acid

I’ve been buying my pool acid (the regular muriatic acid stuff) by the gallon at Pinch A Penny. Since I use 2 gallons a month, the cost adds up fast. Do any of you know of a cheaper place to buy it? I don’t mind buying a case or two at a time for a quantity discount.

Raised my CYA now have no FC

I didn’t measure it when I filled. But it’s what the pool builder told me and what was on the letter they provided to give to the city for sewer bill credit.

Raised my CYA now have no FC

I finally got around to doing my overnight SWG test. Pool Math shows I should have seen a 5.2 FC increase but it only went up 4.5 last night. Should I be concerned? Also as an aside, I can’t figure out how to get the lid off my SWG (Jandy TruClear). When the pool was first filled, we had some...

Raised my CYA now have no FC

I think I’m good now, thanks. But I think I’ll take Mdragger’s suggestion to test my SWG to confirm it’s generating chlorine properly.

TF Pro is the one I just got. I’ve been using a 6 way kit that I picked up locally.

Raised my CYA now have no FC

I finally did the OCLT last night (I didn’t realize the kit I had wasn’t sufficient for this test so I got the right one). The difference was slight: 8 drops last night and 7 drops this morning. So I guess I just need to get some more liquid chlorine and pour it in to get to 7 now that my CYA...

Raised my CYA now have no FC

Ok I updated my signature with more details and will do the OCLT tonight. Edit: hmm looks like the signature didn’t pop up. At least on mobile. Here’s what I have: In ground plaster/pebble pool with spa. 9800 gallons. Jandy CS-250 filter, Jandy VS FLOPRO pump, Jandy JXi heater, Jandy Tru Clear...

Raised my CYA now have no FC

Ok. Point being that it’s always been consistent when I measure. Maybe the chlorine was being replaced by the SWG. But now that I increased the CYA, my chlorine dropped to 0, which concerns me that my SWG is malfunctioning. My SWG has always been able to increase from 0 - from the initial fill...

Raised my CYA now have no FC

Oof, you’re right. I just opened the bottle and it wasn’t very bleach-y smelling at all. I added a 1/2 gal so let’s see what that does.
