What did you do to your pool today?

Yesterday I installed the replacement CircuPool controller that was covered under warranty. I had the FC level at 5 when I installed the new controller. Today I tested and my FC was at 9. I had set my controller at 37% output. I need to turn down the chlorine output! SWG is the only way to go. I...

What did you do to your pool today?

I'm adding liquid chlorine and testing as my SWG control quit working on Monday. Control is in for warranty repair and I'm having to do the manual stuff to keep my pool crystal clear until I get the control back and hooked up!🙁

Circupool Edge 25 not producing FC

Thanks. Yes I'm dosing with bleach for now. Called CircuPool and we determined the control was the problem. Several of the power LEDs would flicker and by taping on the panel, it started producing FC. My system is under warranty. So shouldn't cast anything to get is fixed.

Circupool Edge 25 not producing FC

My Circupool Edge 25 has been performing perfectly for the last year and a half. Monday morning I noticed the water was not sparkling like normal. I tested water. FC was only 1.5 when normal levels are 3-5. My CYA was low at 40 so added to bring it up to 70 where it normally is. I added bleach...

Rough Walls on Fiberglass Pool - Adding undissolved buffer to the pool

I'm seeing the same thing on my fiberglass pool. Below the normal waterline, the gel coat had lightened up and is rougher than above the waterline. I've been following TFP for 2 of the three years I've had the pool and with a SWG for the last year. I guess this is normal for a fiberglass pool.

    New to TFP

Welcome to TFP! This site has helped me tremendously, getting my pool under control and converting to SWG. Now my pool is almost maintenance free, except for occasional vacuuming and water additions and of course testing the water about twice a week!

Enough with the bleach... Where should my SWG go? (Core55)

I just did the SWG conversion 2 weeks ago. I took out the tab feeder and installed the CircuPool Edge 25 and flow meter in its place. The SWG is powered from the pump side of the timer. My pump runs 24/7 on low speed and with the SWG set for 12.5% so far has kept my FC at ~5-6 ppm. My pool has...

    Rapid FC loss

Thank you TFP! Got my pool balanced before July 4th. Had a pool party planned. I boosted the FC to 8 that morning. With about 15-20 people in the pool all day and 100 degree day, this morning’s FC level was 3 and pool was sparkling clear! 😎😎 Brought FC up to 8. All is good!

    Rapid FC loss

My My pump runs 24/7. Installers wired it for low speed and the mechanical timer switches it to high speed for 3 hrs a day to run the Polaris pool sweep.

    Rapid FC loss

The pool installer never installed the weir door. It’s still in a drawer in my garage!

    Rapid FC loss

My pool is fiberglass, very smooth with no square corners and has been brushed many times during the slam. I’ve taken the LED light out and scrubbed the niche. I’ve scrubbed the skimmer. Even taking the outside trim off. I’ve run the water feature for 2 days during the slam to flush that portion...

    Rapid FC loss

I’m getting close to being done with SLAM! Only lost 3 ppm FC in OTLC last night. Water is crystal clear and has been thru entire SLAM and CC is 0.

    Rapid FC loss

My pump runs 24/7 so is well mixed. Thanks. Just bumped FC up to 15.5. It’s partly cloudy today so not intense sun on the pool. Yet!🤣

    Rapid FC loss

Thunderstorm last evening dropped 1.9 inches of rain in my pool. FC was 9.0 when the rain started. This morning it is 6.0 I think some of the FC loss is due to dilution from the rain. Pool is still crystal clear and CC is at 0.

    Rapid FC loss

Loss is dropping slower. Your comment about something organic in the pool triggered a thought. I have several potted plants on the wall where my water feature is. When they get watered sometimes the excess water drains out into the pool! Organic material!

    Rapid FC loss

    I’m hoping for that result!

    Rapid FC loss

OCLT last night FC was 16 at 9pm. This morning FC is at 3.5 and CC is 0.5. Water is crystal clear. Continuing the SLAM.

    Rapid FC loss

I’m using regular bleach, concentrated 7.5% available chlorine, from H‑E‑B.

    Rapid FC loss

I’m following the testing as outlined in the TF 100 kit. I was planning on doing a SLAM but wondered if I was missing something. My pool had been much better since I found this site and got a good test kit last fall.

    Rapid FC loss

Yes I retested it twice this morning. I did a SLAM on it 2 weeks ago as I was out of town and the water was a little cloudy when I got back and no FC.

    Rapid FC loss

Hope y’all can help me understand why I’m loosing FC so fast. I performed the OCLT last night. FC was at 10ppm at 10 pm. At 7am this morning before the sun hit the pool the FC was 2.5ppm. Not it is 1.5. My chemistry readings are as follows testing with TF100 test kit. FC 1.5 CC 0 CYA 40 pH 7.5...

    FC and CYA high

Thanks for the info on draining my pool. The water exchange method looks like what I need to do.

    FC and CYA high

My FC has been high for over a month without adding any chlorine. During June and July I had a hard time keeping the FC above 0. I shocked the pool with powdered shock and since them, the FC has been high. I wasn’t able to accurately measure it until I got my new test kit.

    FC and CYA high

I did some more research on the draining water from my pool to get the CYA level lower. The Lathum pool warranty says that the pool level needs to be above the bottom of the skimmer to prevent any hydrostatic damage to the fiberglass shell. I will have to drain only small amounts at a time and...

    FC and CYA high

I have a new (1.5 years) Fiberglas pool. I had been using tricolor tablets until I found this site. I had been having a hard time keeping any measurable FC this past summer. I shocked the pool with powdered shock. Since then I had an acceptable FC level. I stopped using the chlorine pucks after...
