Guess What I'm Making? You were right! A Margarita Machine!

Be ready for the question "you used a new garbage disposal, right?" a lot! Back in the day, we made one and that was the question we got every time we had someone new come over! --Jeff

    Pentair Mastertemp 400 Electrical Issues

If you are referring to the flame sense cable, this is the cable that goes between the Fenwal ICM and the heater control board. If you are only replacing the heater board/membrane pad, then this is not needed. You would need to change out the ICM in order to have this connection. See below...

Adding Water to Spa in Spa Mode

I have my intake valve biased so that when in spa mode I am constantly pulling a small bit of water from the pool as well, to help with this. Sure I am constantly overflowing a trickle of water, but the spa will refill and remain full when people get out/in. The small flow of colder pool water...

    Intellicenter i5P died

I used something similar for the ethernet connection after a lightning strike took my board out. It also killed my network switch in the house, which is why I added these. Also added a panel surge protector after that. Didn't know they had RS-485 surge protectors. --Jeff

Replacing 3 Pentair Globrites this weekend. What should I watch out for?

I did mine this past weekend. I replaced all 4 of my globrites with microbrites. Make sure to attach a pull cord to the cable before you pull it out, as Marty mentioned. Not difficult, but helps to have a helper to help feed/pull. --Jeff

    Intelliph not working

I assume the suction tube in the tank is installed and hasn't come loose from the fitting. Could you have reversed the suction/discharge lines when re-assembling? --Jeff

What’s your water temp - Spring 2024 edition

Currently water temp is 73 here. Air temps have been getting into the mid 80's. I did heat it this weekend to 88, so that I could get in to change the pool lights. The water was not bad but we had so much wind that as soon as any wet skin was exposed I was freezing. Depending on air temps, I...

What did you do to your pool today?

And today I swapped filter elements, and cleaned the dirty ones. Worked up a sweat doing that and jumped in to cool off. --Jeff

What did you do to your pool today?

Looking good! I'm glad you said something about the chairs. I sat there and stared at them for a good 2 minutes trying to figure out what happened to them. :ROFLMAO: --Jeff

What did you do to your pool today?

Heated my pool up today so I could get into it. I decided to finally change my Globrites over to Microbrites. All 4 had failed about mid last year. The spa Globrite light would still work if you would heat the spa up. I also added a second lighting transformer so I can run the spa and pool...

    Garden Hose Recommendation

I agree, I wish they had a design that would guide the hose. I have the extension kit also so I have 150' of hose on mine, and it has to get wound somewhat neatly or it doesn't fit. I just wind mine up with one hand, while guiding it on in a neat manner with the other. A little frustrating...

Return jets and in floor cleaning system

It is likely this scenario. Mine was initially configured in this manner, although I have 2 distribution valves. I did eventually add a 3-way jandy valve and a check valve to bypass the IFCS completely to the wall returns, so I didn't have to run through the distribution valves 24/7. --Jeff

    Finance company EnerBank USA

The final stage for Lyon to pay the final payment on my loan was after plaster. That is what they considered completed. Yes I had to agree but the milestones are written so vague that there is no way to argue them. There is still a lot that can go wrong that you may still need leverage on...

What did you do to your pool today?

Opened up the water features! May get a few nights where freeze protection kicks on in the next couple weeks but we are out of the cold nasty stuff and I'm ready for the warm weather! Also noticed it appears that my main filter pump shaft seal is leaking again as it was wet around the base...

Consensus on pH meter? Pen type or wifi app type

If you leave it sitting in the sun, sure. If you are storing it in your test kit in a cabinet in your home as advised, then by the time it fades enough to make a difference, you won't need it anymore. I'm not gonna argue that it won't fade over a significant amount of time, but the amount it...

Consensus on pH meter? Pen type or wifi app type

The standard is the Taylor drop test. I don't see that ever changing. It is too simple and easy and requires nothing more than the comparator block and fresh reagents. For those who do use an electronic meter, I see that many seem to like the Apera PH60. The electronic meters must be stored...

    New SWCG installation chemistry question

Being a flow switch, it is less concerned with having a laminar flow profile, so it shouldn't really matter. I'd try and put it 5x pipe diameter downstream if I had the space, but I don't think it will have much effect on when the switch activates. --Jeff

Circulating bypassed equipment (Heater and Bubblers)

I would probably do it more than once a week. I have deck jets that never get used, except for the 4 times a week I run them for 15 minutes to flush the water through them. Tue, Thur, Sat, Sun for 15 minutes is enough to keep the lines from growing anything. I also have a heater bypass. It...
