Thanks, dude. Timely advice. I noticed some mustard algae starting to form in the cracks as the FC fell below 15 so up to 26 it went. Unfortunately, 6” of rain fell in the last 48 hours. We’ll see what the levels look like tomorrow after I waste a ton of water.

OCLT showed 0ppm change so I'm finally done (the SWG was off). Now I need to wait for the FC to float back down and tune the SWG. Thanks, everyone.

Thanks for the link MITBeta as it had been a while since I reviewed the process. It’s always good to get a refresher. I’ve attached my latest tests. Water is clear but I still have some CC to clear up before I can do the OCLT. Again, thank you everyone. As a Type A personality, it can be...

Pool is finally clean. CYA is up to 30. Free chlorine is at 11, so need to dial back the SWG. My pool surface is nearly 30 years old and has some pitting that manages to inhibit flow. Does anyone know of options to keep the bottom stirred up?

SLAM is still ongoing. The main problem remaining before getting the chemistry back on track is to filter out all the detritus. I think I have some mutliport valve blowby as I am seeing a lot of debris get trapped in the AutoPilot manifold screen. I'll be checking the spider gasket this...

Although a reading of 0 is pretty easy ... (maybe I should have picked a different backdrop for the image besides a black table)

Sounds like nobody likes the Lamotte testing platform. The TF100 CYA test is nontrivial to read right, especially if you don't have a way of confirming your results to train your eye (funny intended because of the wobbly eyeball in the bottom of the tube!).

Ha! Was expecting you to be from Texas ... One interesting thing I have been wondering about the last 18 months is why my CYA seems to always test lower than I expected no matter how much I add. To be honest, I only check that parameter every 4-6 months as common wisdom says CYA doesn't go...

Finally back in town and started the SLAM today. CYA 40 so pool math says target is 16 FC. I plan to raise the CYA after to minimize chlorine costs. I normally try for 80 but we get so much rain.

Thanks for all the responses! I do use a TST test kit but forgot those numbers came from the Leslie's LaMotte WaterLink test kit. I haven't used the skimmer socks yet, though I do have them for dosing CYA. It seems I have to do the mustard level SLAM every few months after there is any...

Where to start ... Purchased a house with a 30k pool nearly 4 years ago and have sunk thousands of dollars worth of chemicals and equipment without a whole lot to show for it. This is not my first pool but it's by far the most difficult to maintain. As I'm not very good at getting responses...
