We made it to gunite... finally!

@JamesW This was good info to read. Just a follow up question. The glacier chiller uses a sump pump to return the chilled water. So in their new build installation manual they have you install a dedicated chiller return line at deepest part of pool floor bottom. It’s actually the power of the...

We made it to gunite... finally!

@sll0037 Hey there! I am the individual @Schwimmbad mentioned in the previous posts about Glacier chiller. Here is a snippet of text from my email correspondence with them “Account for 5 feet in head loss for each 90 degree turn. Which means the flow will not totally get there. Every turn you...

Building a pool and nervous to make the wrong decisions

Monster Power is the name that consistently pops up in the Phoenix area for best pricing on pool equipment. So what you have is probably going to be the best.

Starting a new pool "Skimmer elevation issues. Is this an acceptable adjustment”

@AZRider for most the cities in Phoenix metro electric work that will need to be done for the pool equipment will have a separate permit that the electrician will file (if required)

    Raised Bond Beam Construction Question

@bdavis466 thanks so much for this and the pool eng link! What is usually used as a bond breaker or slip joint for cantilevered deck applications?

    Raised Bond Beam Construction Question

I appreciate you taking the time to chime in. I don’t yet have my pool plans. I’m still finalizing my design but continue to go back to this raised deck with overhang as a want to have. I also don’t know if I should expect the individual that I would be using for my pool plans to have this...

    Raised Bond Beam Construction Question

Referring to the deck structure overhanging the bond beam and covered in wood look tile. Just trying to see if anyone knows how that would be constructed.

    Raised Bond Beam Construction Question

@ajw22 I’ll likely take a drive out again to examine more closely under the lip of the overhang. If it ends up being poured could the overhang part be formed at the time of shotcrete since it’s all going to be tiled?

    Raised Bond Beam Construction Question

Could anyone out there that is more familiar with pool construction techniques be able to tell me how this raised patio is constructed. This is a pool at a model home that I really liked a lot and I want to replicate the raised patio with my OB. The raised patio has an overhang of 3-4” on the...

@Schwimmbad Keep the photos coming. Love the progress. I’m not sure the specific city of Buckeye pool fence/barrier code but in Goodyear if you don’t have a child under the age of 6 living in the home you do bot need the sliding door/window self latching/alarms Gate into the back yard either...

Starting a new pool "Skimmer elevation issues. Is this an acceptable adjustment”

Consider going deeper for the shallow and deep ends. If you’re going owner build route it’s really not much more expensive. 3.5’ you can’t really swim/wade in without scraping your knees as an adult. Your body is also more than halfway out the water when standing. Recommendation is 4’ minimum...

Question for my own curiosity. I know R is likely return and SK for skimmer but what are the pipes for the ones labeled INF, the two between both SK, and the two to the right of the second SK (looks maybe like a V and F)? Thank you!

Also in Phoenix. What were your quotes in the range of? For your baja shelf the 5’ length would not accommodate a lounge ledger if that is something you might want in the future. It would work on the 7’ side but then there would be zero spacing between if you have two of them. If you can make...

    New pool build in AZ!

Hey Time2Relax, Fellow West Valley’er. The pool building market has shifted quite a bit in the last few months. The subs are actually sitting around for work. Your ability to get them scheduled shouldn’t be a problem in the fall. I think fears of where the economy is going have people...

New to pools… Having terrible time deciding on pool options for new build

If you go the owner build route you will find you can get a lot more pool for a lot less. I wouldn’t splurge on in floor cleaning. A robotic pool cleaner will be superior to in floor cleaning. Since you’re in AZ there are a handful of local CAD designers who you can hire to put together your...
