I'm thinking about adding borates\borax to my pool sometime this season. However, we have small barn swallow birds that during the course of the day drink the water. They swoop down and grab a small amount of water as they fly over the pool. Will 50ppm of Borates hurt the birds?

The solution now is: My hose bib gets softened water from my water softener, plus I am using an eco one filter on the end of my garden hose.

So I had the water tested and the pool store is stating that there is about 3ppm of iron in the water.

That's exactly what they told me. I am going to get a water sample from them before giving the fire company the green light to come. I was going to take the sample to my local pool store to just see what the level is.

My local fire company is willing to fill my pool. I have well water and I think they may be pulling the source water directly from the ground also. What would be an acceptable iron level to fill with? We have a pebble finish gunite pool.

You can just use a short piece of 4 conductor wire to connect the PA to the com ports and then create your own network cable from bulk wire. Just crimp on rj45 connectors on both ends. This is just a temporary setup to see if things are working.

I'm looking into an alternative to the screenlogic 2 automation for an EasyTouch 4. It uses the Spa Side Remote terminals in the panel. My question is can the 4 buttons be defined to turn on the main pool pump and the pool light? If so how? I do not have a spa.

You should start testing your own water. Pool store results are notoriously bad. If the numbers are correct however you need to get the CYA level down. Easiest way is to do a partial drain and refill.

Yes I checked where the two hot leads go. L1 & L2. I also did not see the S, C, R. But I will look again. I do not see a centrifugal switch at all. I do see the thermal cut out switch. Not sure the best way to measure that. No humming, nothing at all.
