New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

When I first ran my Evo, it didn’t pick up all the leaves on the bottom. Using the standard filter, I continued to run a couple back to back cycles per day rinsing the filter after each cycle. After about 5 cycles my pool was clean. Since then my Evo has kept my pool spotless. After storms blew through and deposited more leaves the evo picked them up without problem. The standard filter was also very good at picking up all of the little silty bits. I have the fine filter now. When I ran the fine filter for the first time yesterday it didn’t pick up as much as I thought it would because the standard filter did such a good job. I love this Evo so much! It has completely changed my pool maintenance life!
I wonder if I should get the standard filter. Hmmm

I’m curious, did you contacted Leslies to confirm this?
I probably should have, but did not.

I confirmed they leslies does sell the evo robots, at least on their website, and they do service other Polaris/fluidra models, so I’d hope the seemingly reputable folks at marina pool and spa would have been honest with me… and if they were genuinely mistaken, they’d make things right by covering my shipping costs if I did need service.

After manually vacuuming, I set the EVO loose and after 2-1/2 hours, love the results! It picks up a few stones, the missing end caps for the stair liner bead that I dropped in accidentally, and several leaves that I didn't even know were down there.

It's a new pool and we covered it late in the season last year, half full of water and already a good amount of "gunk" at the bottom. After getting it topped up and the equipment finally running last week, I tried the EVO first, but it clogged up in about 2 minutes. The algae and gunk was nice and thick! Took a couple of vacuums and a filter cleaning to clear it all.

Not expecting to manually vacuum again this season.

How do you not have the standard filter? I know I’d want both. When my pool was dirty I needed the standard to get most of the debris up. Now that my pool is clean I’ll probably just keep the fine filter on. What isn’t your robot picking up?
It’s leaving the bigger pieces of dirt. I asked them to swap out the regular filter for the fine one because others were recommending that.

I purchased the smaller 502 this winter and have been very disappointed with it. It simply passes over the edges and leaves thick strands of dirt, and barely ever climbs the walls. Though I do have a fiberglass pool, so that may be the issue, but the walls don't really get dirty so I don't really care about that. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the lack of a rear brush. Is the suction power the same?

My biggest issue is that it'll pass right over a pile of dirt and barely pick up anything, and what it does pick up just gets blown right out the exhaust. I've tried sticking a simmer sock over the exhaust, and it helps capture more of fine particulate, but I'm worried it might be reducing its suction power. Hard to tell though.

Maybe I should get the fine filter?

A few other people commented on having issues with it not picking up dirt. Did any of you find a solution?

I can confirm that my only issue with the EVO614iq is its handling of fine dirt and pollen. Living in Florida, I deal with a lot of pollen, and the EVO simply shoots it back into circulation. This is a huge disappointment for me, especially since I have a screened-in pool cage and don't get much larger debris. I really need a solution for all the pollen that settles at the bottom of the pool, as my arms get tired of brushing multiple times a day.

Well, I have stumbled upon this thread in search of a new robot to replace my aging Hayward tigershark. The old shark needs bearings and tracks and the logic is not working when it encounters the bottom drains.

I have a 18 x 36 vinyl salty that sees plenty of pollen in the spring & large leaves in the fall while thru summer stays relatively clean but does show dirt on the bottom and small debris sticks to the sidewalls at the waterline

It seems the 614 iQ is getting some love here, but the waterline cleaning seems to be "meh" at best. That was something I found the tigershark did a great job at. I will continue to watch this thread and continue my search, but I am leaning towards the 614 iQ

Thanks to the poster and all those who have commented on this!

In the EVO I have the one it came with, is there another option?
The Evo comes by default with what has been called the standard filter. It has the coarser squares on the side of it. There is also a fine filter available. I posted the sticker for the fine filter a few posts up. Marina does sell both coarse and fine filter as separate parts

I assume the fine filter will pick up pollen, because that is my issue. It has been driving me crazy it just shoots the pollen up right now back.

That's what I am hoping. Standard filter did ok for me last year. I got the fine filter but haven't opened pool yet to try it
