Hello, I have a 21 000 gallon inground pool that I have a hard time keeping clean. The old Hayward S244T 24in sand filter was replaced with a S220T 22in 2 years ago because I was having problems with sand at the bottom of my pool, thinking the sand filter laterals were cracked. Last year when I open the pool the water was green and it took over 10 days to clear up following the SLAM process. Before I open the pool for the summer, should I consider replacing the sand filter back to a 24in or bigger? My pump is a Hayward Super Pump 1 HP and my pipe size is 1 1/2". Pool has a main drain/skimmer combo and 2 return jets. Thanks

The size of the filter effects how often the filter needs to be cleaned. A small filter can clean as effectively as a bigger one but needs to be cleaned more often.

It must be algae because if I sweep it, it clouds up and disappears for a while.

I took 10 days for it to pass a OCLT last year after opening while following the SLAM process. I will open the pool next week and see how this year goes.
