Add phosphates?

Hey Y'all,
I'm hiring a pool maintenance company to service my pool while I'm gone for five months. I just added water to my new pool in March and I've got the water chemistry dialed in pretty close via the TFP philosophy. To start out, the company wants to automatically add phosphates to the water as they say it makes the checmicals last longer. I understand CYA and chlorine isses and the importance of proper ph. But, I haven't found a lot on this website about adding phosphates. Is that a good thing? I'm in Arizona and I'm stuck with a company that just wants to use floaties and tabs. So, I know I'll end up with high CYA eventually and have to drain the pool (about 6,000 gallons). But what's this phosphate stuff?

Just say no.

Find out what specific product they want to add and what the ingredients are.

It is probably some type of algaecide.

Phosphates are a byproduct of using HEDP based sequestrants and I don't know why they want to add that.

I personally would ask for clarification on this just to verify. It does sound to me like they’re going to add a phosphate remover to LOWER phosphates in your water. In normal cases lowering the phosphate levels isn’t mandatory however in your case I do personally see where you may benefit.
