What has been your experience with that. I wonder if I did everything perfectly during a slam-what is the fastest time to passing all tests?

Tell us how much algae you have in your water?

Just dead and only a bit. Just wondering about best case scenario. It always takes me about 4 weeks.
A SLAM with a little bit of algae can take a few days. With a lot it can take a few weeks.

What does your water look like? What can you see or not see when you look in the pool?

Post pics of the water.

Just a data point, opened my pool a couple of weeks ago. Pretty green. SLAM took 10 days and 25 gallons of 10% chlorine.

My house sat vacant for 3 years. The first year I opened the pool it was a literal swamp. There was at least 3 feet of leaves in the bottom. From cover off to crystal clear took 20 days. The first few days were spent vacuuming to waste, refilling, and scooping with a leaf skimmer. The actual slam portion was 16 days.

This year I opened late and it was a swamp. The walls were covered in green and I couldn't see the bottom in the shallow end. It wasn't as bad as it looked since I could see the shallow end bottom after vacuuming. The slam lasted 4 days.

I think most slams are extended due to not getting the organics out before starting and not being able to babysit the pool in the first 18-36 hours. It'll take a lot longer if your filter gets clogged or the chlorine level goes below spam level.

Thank you very much for that info.

No matter how bad it is, your effort plays a huge role.

The first couple days need to be hit often, because it will chew through FC. Sometimes life is in the way and folks can only test/add 2 or 3 times a day. The process still works, it just takes longer.

I had clear water but kept getting dead aglea brown dust on the floor very slowly. SLAM took 6 days to pass all criteria. That was with me testing and adding 3 times per day.
