I just used a plastic stick so I could put the mud in a plastic bowl.. Something I wouldn't normally need to do..

I just used a hose and sprayer.. and hosed it down from the outside, and then the inside... 20 or 30 seconds tops..

No issues at all.

Basically "mud"!!!

Keep in mind that none of this was visible before I ran the EVO and I had no clue it was there. That was last night.. I plan to clean the finer basket and run it again today and see what it missed.

For those that don't already know, there are three 'grid' patterns printed on the side of the filter. There is also a small arrow that indicates how fine the filter is.. The more grid boxes, the finer the filter. My standard filter has 4 grid boxes, my new filter basket has 16 boxes.

Not sure if this means that I should use the finer filter all the time, or use the standard filter most of the time, and use the finer filter once in a while or ??? I plan to run some more tests and see what makes the most sense for me..

If I had to decide today, then I'd want both filters.

I think best way is using standard filter regularly then once a week or 2, use the fine filter to catch the leftover dust. Reasoning is that Water has to go through the filter so less unnecessary resistance on the motor might help extend its life…just a guess, not too sure of how having less water flow through the filter would impact the spinning motor with fan-like blades pulling from the front.

That said, I ran 3x with standard filter and it did catch a lot of dust (see pics)! Havent yet tried the fine filter, but maybe if they have the middle filter it would be best of both worlds.

I really like the design of this cleaner, after 3 runs it look totally clean except some palm tree spines wrapping middle of the front and back brushes, but the impeller is perfectly clear! whereas the dolphin impeller would have been wrapped in a bunch of spines as well as the brushes! I also dont see trash sticking out all over the body like the dolphin.

Other than the half sized basket, I’d say for now this is a winner.

While the Dolphin basket is bigger, I have found that it will almost never fill up, as the cloth bag around the suction opening, will clog before the filter gets half full. So, in my experience, the EVO basket will hold everything that the Dolphin does..

I purchaed this robot and looking forward to using once the pool is finished. They are digging today!

We are installing an automatic pool cover, dose anyone know if this robot can be used when the cover is closed or only when open?

This will sound dumb but when you clean the robot filters and stuff do you hose it down outside like on your decking or do most clean all this in a bathtub so it goes down the drain? Thanks
 
Just checking in as a newbie to TFP to thank everyone on this thread for the insight & opinions. I read through 16 pages (!) of comments and ultimately ordered my Evo today from Marina (604 instead of the 614).

Special thanks to Jim R. for kicking it off and all of the super helpful comparison info as I was also torn between the Evo 604 and S200 as a first robot.

I totally agree with tangled cord, I find if I take the time to lay the cord out untangled before putting the robot(Madge) in the pool it helps a lot, when I take it out I coil it like I used to do with my climbing ropes and get all the kinks out.

When configuring the iAquaLink software the app glitched in the middle of a firmware update for the robot. I sent an inquiry about how to restart the update to Fluidra on March 23rd, and forwarded that inquiry to Aqua Products on March 31st, but never received a response from either of them.

Also on March 31st I submitted an inquiry about waterline cleaning to Aqua Products. Again, I never received a response.

I have an inquiry in to Marina to see if they will be able to break anything loose.

It took several weeks and several tries, but Margaret at Marina was finally able to get me a partial response.

I came to this section of the forum to start a new thread that I just ordered this model and to ask if anyone had any experience...then I found this thread :D Thanks to @Jimrahbe for starting this with an excellent review! All my questions have been answered, plus a lot more! I'm in Canada and bought from Pool Supplies Canada where it was on sale. Previous to tripping across this model, I was planning to purchase a Dolphin E30 WiFi. I thought this unit at $500 less than the E30 was probably too good to be true, but MUCH more comfortable with my choice now! Still not real comfortable with the colours of this thing though ;)

Now you are a year out on the EVO. Do you still like it? Also new to robots as we have a Legend Platinum that needs replacing. What do you do on the side of the pool where the legend currently connects. Is there a cap or something as it would no loner be used? Thanks.

So far I am still in "love" with it.... :mrgreen:

When the Dolphin robots I have at a couple rent houses die, they will be replaced by EVOs..

The legend is a pressure cleaner, so you would no longer need to run the booster pump.

Some people cap off the booster and others also convert the old pipe into the pool into another Pool Return.
