Tracking my incredible shrinking CYA

I just bought some CYA from Doheny...
I too felt that my cheap CYA was not lasting as long as it should.. But, have no data to prove it..
This will be my first year with Doheny CYA, so it will be interesting to see if their CYA is any better than what I was buying before.

What is the "Cheap CYA"? I've been using the chlorox stuff from lowes, but I also have felt that my CYA goes away really quick...

I have used the Puritech stuff, and the RX Clear in the past. Both seemed to raise my CYA but the CYA seemed to disappear very quickly
So someone reported that the Doheny stuff is better so I bought 50lbs of it and will be running a test. I have a sock dangling right now. Will measure in 2 days an post again. Should be around 80ppm.
I will then measure and report back on a semi regular basis.

So 2.5” of rain yesterday. Lost about 1” through the overflow. Pool is also at least an inch higher than normal. Tested CYA and got 70. Which I will attribute to some dilution and loss of water. Will wait a few days and bump back up to 80. FC is a little low so need to go pick some up and add that first. Also used the opportunity to clean the dinky little filter.

CH dropped 10ppm (I test with a 25ml sample). But I am having pretty big evaporation the last few weeks so I have been adding water.

CYA was maybe a tad under 70, but let’s call it 70 for now. No rain since the last test. So adding some CYA now as we are getting full sun. I would like to have it around 80-90 and form a new baseline. Will measure again on Sunday or Monday and we will start tracking from there.
As a side note, pool is now hitting 88 degrees so I am not sure how that factors into degradation.

Do we have an idea of how much? My pool hit 90F yesterday, and will probably float between 85 and 90 for quite a while.
