Help with Hayward multi-port valve SP0715

@sktn77a I took it apart and lubed the gasket, and though the handle is floppy, it moves enough for me to operate at the moment. So, thanks for that suggestion. I may just have to replace the dumb thing, I have no idea how old it is. I've been slowly replacing most of the equipment

Help with Hayward multi-port valve SP0715

I scraped the old gasket out and tacked this one down with some locktite 401. I did not lubricate it, I only lubed the o-ring in the shaft (#8 in the diagram).

Help with Hayward multi-port valve SP0715

I actually installed a check valve last year between the feeder and the multiport to prevent that damage. I was unaware that I shouldn’t turn the pump off with tabs in it, but, I assumed that was the reason for the spring deterioration. Nylon insert is installed, one washer is installed...

Help with Hayward multi-port valve SP0715

Hey all, I have an old Hayward multiport that has been a constant source of irritation. This season (just opened) I replaced spring, and spider gasket. The issues I’m having is that when I tighten the cover down I loose all tension on the handle. I can’t hardly move the selector at all. It’s...

Had mustard algea prior to pool drain, what should be done prior to filling pool?

I should definitely be able to get the cover off, i will give it a good look over. I plan on filling it next month, is there something i can clean the light niches and the drain with prior to filling? Or is it best to wait until the pool is filled then SLAM it?

Had mustard algea prior to pool drain, what should be done prior to filling pool?

Hey all, this will be my second season with this pool. I decided to drain/power wash it at the end of last season due to some organic staining on plaster due to the pool being neglected prior to me buying the house. Near the end of the season I ended up with a mustard bloom THAT WOULD NOT GO...

Definet leak ~ 3/4" per day, also noticing small bubbles in return lines

I was able to locate several leaks around the mouth of both skimmers using dye in a syringe (Amazon). I located leaks on both the "floor" and "walls" of the skimmer opening where the skimmer insert meets the grout of the pool. I used a two part epoxy that I picked up from Leslie's for about 20$...

Definet leak ~ 3/4" per day, also noticing small bubbles in return lines

Re: Definet leak ~ 3/4" per day, also noticing small bubbles in return lines WOW! I feel like that is a lot of water. I didn't check the skimmers last night, but I identified the leak (running water check), the union right in front of the pump. I will try to check this evening and will...

Definet leak ~ 3/4" per day, also noticing small bubbles in return lines

So, like the title suggest, I have a leak (water bucket test) loosing about 3/4" per day, this morning I noticed a few very small bubbles coming out of almost all of the returns. I don't see them in the pump, but maybe because it is such a small amount?? they may not even be related. I have been...

Electrical issue on Main Pool pump after lighting strike

Jim, it was the timer. I bypassed the timer and wired the pump straight to the breaker and all is well. Again, thanks for your input.

Electrical issue on Main Pool pump after lighting strike

Jim, i guess I should clarify. With the timer off I can turn the breaker ON and everything is good. When I turn the switch ON, the pump starts and runs for about 5 seconds and then the breaker trips. I had taken pump into Leslie’s and when they bench tested it it seemed alright, but I suppose...

Electrical issue on Main Pool pump after lighting strike

I replaced the breakers and I am now getting 240 at the leads, but now the breaker trips within 5 seconds of turning everything on

Electrical issue on Main Pool pump after lighting strike

So, I’ve checked the breaker and I have gotten interesting results. I checked voltage across each breaker (dual pole) to the bus bar and each breaker reads 120 volts. But when I put the meter on the timer only when it’s ON do I see any voltage and it’s 60 volts. I think I’m just going to replace...

Electrical issue on Main Pool pump after lighting strike

Jim, I have tried turning it off then back on, no change. I will test the breaker this evening. The breaker does at least kill the power to the timer in the OFF position. I will report on my findings. thanks.
